Amaro Lucano

Amaro Lucano, a distinctive Italian liqueur, was born in 1894, crafted by Pasquale Vena, a confectioner skilled in the art of spices. Vena’s expertise led to the honour of becoming the official purveyor for the House of Savoy by 1900, a distinction that is commemorated by the Savoy flag adorning each bottle’s label. The unification of Italy in 1861 saw the rulers of the House of Savoy, originally monarchs of the so-called Kingdom of Sardinia (encompassing both the island of Sardinia and the region of Piedmont), ascend to the throne of the newly established Kingdom of Italy. During this era, specifically in 1900, Umberto I ruled, but his reign was cut short when, shortly after the royal adoption of Amaro Lucano, he was assassinated by Gaetano Bresci.
