Operated by the Humbert brothers, Frédéric and Emmanuel, Domaine Humbert Freres is renowned for producing exceptional bottlings vintage after vintage. Their vineyard parcels are remarkable, using mostly old vines averaging forty years old, contributes to the wine’s unique character and excellent flavour profile. Their winemaking process is traditional, involving destemmed grapes, regular punching down and pumping over during long macerations. This method produces an unparalleled tasting experience, marked by its complexity, depth, and refined character.

Gevrey-Chambertin, located in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy, is renowned for its powerful and long-lived Pinot Noir wines. With a winemaking history dating back to the Roman era, the village is home to nine Grands Crus and twenty-six Premiers Crus, including the esteemed Poissenot vineyard. The unique terroir, characterized by limestone and clay soils and a favourable climate, provides ideal conditions for producing exceptional wines.
The 2001 vintage in Burgundy faced challenging weather, including a cool and wet spring followed by a variable summer. However, meticulous vineyard management and a favourable September harvest resulted in high-quality wines. This vintage has aged gracefully, developing remarkable complexity and depth over the years.
