Nestled on the idyllic shores of Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria, The Lakes Distillery has carved its place as a beacon of premium whisky craftsmanship in England. Established in 2011, the distillery was born from a passion to reflect the profound beauty and rich history of its surroundings through the art of whisky making.
The creation of the Galaxia Single Malt Whisky marks a significant milestone, being the concluding chapter in the acclaimed Whiskymaker’s Editions series initiated by the renowned Dhavall Gandhi. This series embodies the distillery’s innovative approach to whisky maturation with Galaxia utilsing a blend of European and American oak casks. These casks have been seasoned with bourbon, red and white wine, Calvados, and several different types of sherry.
Galaxia, at 54% ABV and with no chill-filtration, encapsulates the essence of all the previous expressions, offering a complex flavour profile and a deep, natural colour. It serves not only as a tribute to the pioneering work of Dhavall Gandhi but also as a celebration of the distillery’s continuous journey in pushing the boundaries of whisky production. The expert crafting of Galaxia highlights the distillery’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of traditional methods while embracing the potential for evolution and innovation.
